At Building A, FRM220-CH20 chassis with FRM220-10/100i and FRM220-1000MS media converters are used to convert the RJ-45 ports from the copper switch to fiber links that run to different locations throughout the campus.
At Buildings B, C and D, CTC Union’s FE and GbE Fiber media converters provide copper-to-fiber connectivity to department switches and bridging between the Ethernet fiber and the 10/100 or 10/100/1000 switches. FRM220-10/100i media converters and the FRM220-CH20 20 slot chassis also be used in this unmanaged application.
Note that the media converters provide transparent network connectivity, so the switches in the network can be managed via SNMP management software. The CTC Union managed copper-to-fiber media converters and Network Interface Devices can be deployed for managed fiber infrastructure with remote configuration, performance monitoring and fault notification.
